Clio, the world’s leading provider of legal technology, today announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire vLex, a pioneer in legal intelligence that combines cutting-edge AI with the world’s most comprehensive global legal research platform. The transaction is valued at US $1 billion and will be paid in a combination of cash and stock.

vLex launches Vincent Spring '25 release featuring intelligent agents, user-created workflows in Studio, new summary tables for document collections, general assist, AI model upgrades, and more.

With the Winter 2025 release, Vincent AI introduces significant new workflows for litigators, including audio and video capabilities for transcripts and depositions, research workflows backed by 850M+ court records, and a new Build an Argument workflow combining case facts with relevant law. This is in addition to the launch of Hong Kong and three new countries with native workflows in Vincent AI.

With successful business units already set up across North America, Europe, the UK, and Latin America, vLex will now be investing in the Asia-Pacific region, with a new domestic team led by Daniel Hobson to respond to increased demand in the area.

From January 2022, more than 30 new law journals from South Africa will be added to vLex’s intelligent research platform. For the first time, these world-renowned titles can be accessed alongside 80,000 full-text South African cases as well as an extensive range of legal information from over 130 jurisdictions.

vLex has launched a brand new Global News product to provide customers with extensive coverage of both legal and general news from around the world. Having partnered with a number of world-leading publishers to bring this product to market, vLex has become the first service to provide access to millions of reliable news articles, alongside primary materials and secondary sources, from over one hundred countries, all on one integrated platform.

vLex announces a new collaboration that will provide seamless access from Courtroom Insight’s platform to vLex’s global legal research database.

From December 2021, researchers across the Caribbean and Africa can access the official UK Law Reports on vLex following a pivotal partnership with the ICLR. These authoritative law reports can be accessed alongside vLex’s comprehensive collections of Caribbean case law, the largest collection of UK judgments, and collections of African case law.

Following a recent update of Vincent, the technology’s search capabilities have been dramatically expanded.
